California "Fair Claims Settlement Practices Act" Re-Certification at February 19, 2012 SCA Luncheon

Join the Sacramento Claims Association as we welcome attorney Laura S. Flynn, of Low, Ball & Lynch, for a re-certification of the California Fair Claims Settlement Practices Act regulations at the February 9, 2012 luncheon speaeker.

All insurance claims adjusters must be recertified annually for clear understanding of the Fair Claims Practices Act regulations. Certification must be held in the adjuster's work file, available for review by the Department of Insurance at any time. Re-Certification may be attained by simply attending this luncheon meeting session.

LAURA SAGMEISTER FLYNN attended the University of California, Santa Barbara, majoring in Law & Society. She graduated with honors in 1987. Ms. Flynn attended law school at the University of San Francisco from 1987 to 1990 and was Executive Editor of the USF Law Review. She is a shareholder with the San Francisco office of Low, Ball & Lynch.

Ms. Flynn has been practicing law for 20 years. She handles employment, product liability, premises liability and Americans with Disabilities (ADA) claims. Ms. Flynn has been a Board member of the Association of Defense Counsel of Northern California and Nevada (ADCNC) since 2005. This year, she is Chair of the Landowner Liability Law Section and Vice-Chair of the Employment Law Section. She is editor of Low, Ball & Lynch’s Employment and Wage and Hour Law newsletter. Ms. Flynn has provided multiple ADCNC presentations, including “Handling, Resolving and Preventing Disability Discrimination Claims” and “Wage and Hour Issues for Law Firms.” Ms. Flynn has also conducted seminars on ADA issues for the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG). Recently, Ms. Flynn became a member of the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys, a national organization of civil defense attorneys.

Ms. Flynn’s recent legal victories include defense verdicts in wrongful termination cases venued in Los Angeles and Santa Monica. She obtained a defense verdict in a product liability case venued in San Francisco Superior Court and obtained a summary judgment in a pharmaceutical product liability case venued in the United States Northern District Court.

Ms. Flynn resides in Mill Valley with her two children, ages 9 and 11. In her spare time, she enjoys skiing, hiking, camping and golfing. She is a Board member of the Mill Valley Girls Softball league and a volunteer judge for the Marin County Mock Trial program.
