January 14, 2010 meeting review
By SCA Board Member Marjorie Hickey, Carl Warren & Co.
The Sacramento Claims Association elected four (4) new Board Members on January 14, 2010. While enjoying an excellent lunch of ravioli we were also listening carefully to ten (10) qualified candidates give their individual speeches. At the end of the meeting, the Members elected: Geoff Jolliff, JM Environmental; Iain Wallace, Independent Adjuster; Michael Bentz, York Claims Services; and Michael Shepherd, of Shepherd Consulting. It was not necessarily an easy choice with ten (10) qualified candidates that made it through the vigorous vetting process.
After the general member meeting, a follow up Board Meeting was held on January 22, 2010 to elect the Officers for the 2010 year. Don Sams will continue as the SCA President, Michael Shepherd as been elected to serve as the new Vice-President, Jim McCurley, Treasurer and Cata Jimenez, Secretary.
Needless to say, the outgoing Board Members have done a great job during their three (3) year tenure and we all should take a moment to thank Kelly Szymulewski, Steve Drake, Jim Holland and Chris Yaw at our next meeting in February. All four of the departing Board Members have made unique contributions for which the association is grateful.
The Sacramento Claims Association Board of Directors sets itself apart from other similar boards/associations. The mere fact that there were ten highly qualified individuals willing to devote their time and attention to the SCA is remarkable all by itself. There is also a nice combination of claims professional and vendors that make up the Board. This balance should help us to continue to grow and attract new members and participants.
Please look for the new Board Members at our next meeting on February 11, 2010! Introduce yourself and say hello!
