| Our board members have taken on the following tasks: Cata Jimenez will be the most visible presence by her email reminders of the meetings coming up and keeping the registration details at the meetings. This is a time-consuming and complicated task and Cata has proven that she is up to the challenge, for which we are grateful. Jim McCurley has agreed to take over the treasurer’s spot and is inheriting impeccable records from Kelly Denison who kept the association’s books for many years now. Kelly Denison will now take on the task of managing the membership rolls, assisted by Iain Wallace. They are charged with the priority as established by the board of increasing membership, specifically carrier personnel as members.
Our sole fund-raising effort, the annual golf tournament, will be headed by Mike Shepherd who has assembled a committee consisting of Charles Gabbani, Barbara Prosch and Steve Drake- all experienced in the complexities of presenting a first-class event. Marjorie Hickey will continue as the chair of the speaker’s committee, assisted by Jim McCurley and Charles Gabbani.
Art Coussoulis will once again work his magic over the Winter Party for 2011 and will also chair the newly formed Financial Committee. New too, this year is the Giving Committee, headed by Kelly Denison that will vet the charities that the SCA will consider for charitable contributions. As is traditional, I will chair the Special Events and oversee the SCA events throughout the year.
I am excited to announce that the SCA, as one of the founding organizations of the Claims Conference of Northern California 17 years ago, is this year becoming the Grand Sponsor of the CCNC conference in September this year. It is appropriate and consistent with our goals of helping to providing quality education to the insurance community.
Thank you to Carl Fessenden of Porter Scott Attorneys, for a lively and informative presentation on the ramifications of the Medicare requirements which after many years on the books, are just now being enforced.
Thank you to the large and attentive audience at the February luncheon who in spite of increased claims volume found the time to attend and gain some important insight into another aspect of insurance claims.
