Nelson to Address Government Tort Claims February SCA

Whether you are directly or indirectly or just want to know more about public entity claims management, plan now to attend our February 12, 2009 luncheon meeting of the Sacramento Claims Association. Larry Nelson will be speaking about government tort claims, covering its history and current status, from basics to complex. The discussion will include applicable statutes, codes, case examples and the government claim process.

Mr. Nelson has been involved in claims since 1975 when he started on the carrier side as a claims representative with Liberty Mutual shortly after completing his degrees in biology and environmental studies from UC, Davis. He has held positions as marketing manager, underwriting manager, and Account Executive with Sacramento’s largest insurance brokerage. He has been a Corporate Insurance Manager for a Fortune 100 Company in the San Francisco Bay Area, applying world compass risk management techniques, including property losses up to sixty-eight million and liability up to one hundred fifteen million dollars.

Mr. Nelson has been involved in catastrophe losses caused by fire, earthquake, floods, hail, construction and federal environmental superfund. Larry returned to Sacramento as Director of Risk Management for an interstate equipment association before joining Gregory B. Bragg and Associates, Inc. in 1995. He currently is the TPA manager for the City of Sacramento Liability Claims Division.

For relaxation Larry spends his time as a Commissioner for El Dorado County; is on the State Board for a Wildlife Conservation Organization; and has been a volunteer Safety Instructor for the State of California since 1980. In addition, he squeezes in organizing fundraising events for wildlife conservation groups.

Please make your reservations now to attend this most informative meeting. You may contact SCA VP Chris Yaw or Board Member Cata Jimenez to secure your spot.
